(Several of you have contacted me in regards to the photos not appearing.  I’m trying to fix this problem and will hopefully have this mystery solved soon!  Thank you so much for your patience and please bear with me as I continue learning this new blogging platform!  It’s not at all like Blogger where my last blog was at and has a bit of  a learning curve!  -Kim)

Hi Everyone!  I am so excited to be the guest designer for Olive Juice Studios this week! Since Kim asked me to be the guest designer for the week of July 5th I wanted to make an Independence Day celebration card.

I used the dog from Paper Pups. I love how he is looking up to the sky. I used the grass from Zooballoo and the fence from My World. The flag is from Independence Day and the fireworks are from Stand and Salute. For the card base I used a sheet of 81/2″ x 11″ cardstock and cut it in half. I inked around all the edges inside and out. I then used my ATG gun and attached the red frame piece and also the blue piece.  The first cut piece I glued down was the first layer of grass.  Then I glued down the 1st layer of fence.  Then I took Zot 3-D dots and attached the second layer of the fence.  After I attacfhed the second layer of the fence I attached the flags.  The flags are attached using the Zot dots. The fog is actually 3 layers. 2 base and one regular cut.  I inked all around him and drew his face on. The fireworks are attached with foam 3-D squares but before I attached them I used my heat embosser and added star dust embossing powder. Love how it looks in person. One the inside I added another dog but haven’t decided the perfect sentiment yet!

I hope you enjoy and thank you Kim for having me as your guest designer. I’ve had a blast.

Vicki

Whimsical Glittered

4th of July Banner

An Olive Juice Studio original designed exclusively for Memory Miser customers!

Are you hosting a picnic or BBQ on July 4th?  Snazz up your party décor with a super simple and quick banner using  the new  Seasonal – “Independence Day” Cricut cartridge.

Ingredients:

Independence Day Seasonal Cricut cartridge

Cricut (any size)

3 (or more depending on the size banner you are seeking) 12×12 sheets Paper Studio Newsprint Patterned Paper

3 (or more)12×12 sheets Paper Studio Red and White Polka Dot Patterned Paper

1 (or more)12 x12 Navy Blue Bazzil Paper

Jute or Ribbon

AdhesiveSpray Adhesive

Clear fine Glitter

Red ribbon – thin

Red Netting or Tulle

Tim Holtz Antique Paper and Vintage Photo Distress Inks

Silver or White Stickles/glitter glue

Silver Grommets

Crop-a-dile

 Scissors

Directions:

1.      Insert the Independence Day Seasonal Cricut cartridge into your machine.  Using the newsprint patterned paper for the base, cut nine or more flags/pennants.  By following the keypad overlay, you will find  the base cut by counting down three rows and across four.  Look for the upside down black triangle.  Set your machine to 4 ¾”.  Adjust your speed to “high/max,” set the blade depth and pressure according to the paper weight.  If using the same paper as in the photo, set your blade depth to 4 and the blade pressure to medium.  Cut out as many pennants to make the banner any length you are seeking.

2.      Place the red and white polka dot paper on the mat then select the second layer which is four rows down and four across on the keypad overlay.  Cut enough for each pennant cut out of the newsprint paper.

3.      Using the navy blue paper count five rows down and four across.  Cut out one for each pennant.

4.      Ink all pieces using the Antique PaperDistress Ink for the base.  Lightly drag the ink pad across the edges and center of the papers to give it a more vintage appeal.  Next, using the Vintage Photo Distress Ink lightly ink only the edges of all the pieces.

5.      Assemble the pennants by adhering all pieces together.

6.      In a well ventilated area (preferably outdoors) spray each pennant one at a time with spray adhesive then dust with a coating of clear fine glitter and tap off any excess.  Do this to each pennant.  Add Stickles/glitter glue to  all of the stars.  Let dry before continuing.

7.      Using your Crop-a-dile, punch a hole into each upper corner of the pennant and slip a grommet into each hole – set it with the Crop-a-dile.

8.      Cut strips of jute/twine to desired length between each banner pennant.  Slip one end through the grommet on the ;pennant and square knot the string to keep it from slipping through.  Repeat by connecting the pennants together using the jute.

9.      Cut strips of red ribbon and red netting/tulle into small strips and randomly tie in between each pennant.

10.  Add any extra details you desire and place in an area where everyone can see your new creation!

I hope you like it and try making one yourself!  Seriously, super simple and super fun to make!
