I had an accident this morning. (Insert moan here) I was rushing to make a birthday card for my mom – (her birthday is this Friday AND my sister called me last night telling me do not wait! Get a card in the mail by tomorrow! See, I’m notorious for making cards but not sending the card until the DAY OF the birthday, anniversary, etc.. – so everyone knows a card from Kim comes AFTER the special day!) So anyway, I had a ” tragic accident” and it involved glue – need I say more? I bought a new bottle of glue over the weekend (Liquid Fusion – not sure what I think of this stuff yet…) and apparently it had gas. When I went to glue the rhinestones to the center of the flowers I got them all glued perfectly until the bubble happened. Yep, you guessed right…” S-P-L-U-R-T-T-T-T!!” All over the whole card front. (Insert groan here) The more I tried to clean it the worse it got. The mailgal was just blocks away so I did what I do best -I glittered the dickens out of it! It worked BUT…then I had an accident with the glitter….I was in such a hurry that I sprayed the whole front with spray adhesive and started sprinkling clear sugar/fine glitter on the card…BUT THEN….my fingers got stuck to the bottle (the spray adhesive had gas too and splurted drippy gunk all over my hands with the first squirt) and I ended up throwing the bottle across the room (Not on purpose…it was stuck to my fingers and flew off of my hand…) - my craft room now looks like Tinker Bell and her possee were here playing today…. The mailgal was getting closer so I grabbed the next bottle of clear glitter…BUT …when I started shaking the glitter on I realized that I had I accidentally grabbed the course/chunky glitter – it was in the same size bottle as the clear sugar/fine glitter.
I’m telling you my story because I’m sure you’re all sitting there scratching your heads wondering what Kim was thinking when she flocked the entire front of the card. It’s NOT flocked…it just has some industrial strength chunky glitter stuck to it… In person, the card is really cute and looks quite vintage-y so I guess that’s all that matters, right?

The clothesline was cut at 3 1/2″, the flowers were cut at 2″, the phrase Fresh & Lovely 1″, the chicken 2″, the sun 3″. The card is layered with a red card mat base measuring 5 1/2″ x 5 1/4″, the green and white floral 5 1/4″ x 5″, the music sheet is torn from an old church hymn book and glued along the bottom and two sides – the top is left open to slip the bookmark in. The sun hiding behind the hills was used for the bookmark but I cut the hills off (insert look of shock here). Yep, that’s the way I did it – no Gypsy was used because I’m challenged and I’m waiting for my one-on-one class with Audrey Felix from Cute and Some Blog…(Helpppp me Audrey! LOL!)
This is a photo of the removable bookmark/tag that slide in the paper pocket I made with the music paper and green/white floral paper. Isn’t it cute and unexpected?
The inside of the card reads: Wish you…a perfect day of sunshine today and all the year through! Happy Birthday!
What was the lesson I learned today? To continue sending cards AFTER the special event so I’m not so rushed. By the way, after all of these accidents and glitter explosions I missed the mailgal…she didn’t seem bothered at all to see me chasing after her on my son’s skateboard, in fact, I swear she drove away even faster – people these days!
Off to clean up my glitter spill…

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am literally ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!! I read this the other day and didn’t have time to write back and had a minute tonight so, of course I had to read it again and I was laughing so hard (I was crying, loved the line about Tinkerbell and her possee, LOL!) Ken had to come over to see what the heck I was reading and he got a chuckle out of it too! He said it’s a good thing you guys don’t live close by, he could just IMAGINE what trouble and hilarious things we could get into! LOL
I’m trying to work on my challenge entry and having a hard time since I don’t have ANY Halloween carts! But I’ll figure out something! We’ve been walking in the AM and I’ve been picking up some things on our little qaunts! We’ll see how it all comes together!

OMG…I’m ROTFLMAO at this post. Sounds like you had a “Rockin Robin” kind of day. Too funny!! What we don’t go through for our loved ones. It drives me to madness when my hubby asks me..on the day of a special event…”hey Rob, can you whip up a card for so and so”? My 1st instinct is to beat the snot out of him. Egads people…why don’t they get how long the creative process takes??? 1st, you got the personality of the recipient to think of, then the occasion, then the colors/paper, the stamps, the techie…need I continue? Kim, I’m not scratching my head, I’m laughing hysterically!!! That is so darn funny!!! What a great story to keep and share when you need one! It’s a winner! I am sorry though about the “accident(s)”.
Kim, I order my Stampmaker directly from the manufacturer, Photocentrics. I paid regular price for it (about $175); however, you’ll need more supplies than what is in the included kit, so the imagepacs and the special paper can get costly. But, otherwise, it was worth it to me because I just love it!!!

I was thinking, hmm, a clothesline in a snowstorm. Interesting concept! Seriously, it is one of those happy accidents that look cool. Somehow, you saved it! I hope you have a vacuum with a hose though-that room sounds like quite a task!
